Songkran

For Songkran 2024, the design team at The Party Setter was given the challenge to create a Songkran theme that feels more international yet still evokes a warm, homey, and traditional Thai atmosphere. Therefore, we incorporated various floral-patterned fabrics along with a rural village vibe by adding haystacks and traditional Thai checkered cloth (pha khao ma) into the theme.
Because of using floral-patterned fabrics in this decoration, a challenge arose in hanging the fabrics at different levels by setting up scaffolding to attach the fabric to the overhead structure, along with other Songkran props. The installation team had to carefully consider safety to ensure that no props would fall down during the setup.

Highlights

This theme captures the essence of the Songkran festival at the temple—a memory that everyone who was a child has experienced. It evokes nostalgic images such as the Ferris wheel, traditional checkered scarves (pha khao ma), temple fair games, and childhood sweets that are now rare. These elements are all part of the theme, bringing back joyful and unforgettable memories of the Songkran festival.
